Inside the Numbers

I'm not sure what this means, but if you break the 50 United States down by the presence of an NBA team(s) within their borders, the electoral vote in the upcoming election come out as follows (using www.fivethirtyeight.com for polling purposes; I treated DC/Maryland as a single entity):

STATES WITHOUT NBA TEAMS:
McCain: 72
Obama: 70
1 undecided state (Missouri)

STATES WITH NBA TEAMS:
Obama: 241
McCain: 102
2 undecided states (Florida, North Carolina)

Of course, if the Sonics hadn't relocated to Oklahoma, the numbers become even more lopsided (McCain 83-59 in non-NBA states, Obama 252-91 in NBA states).

Feel free to begin accusing me of liberal media bias in the comments section ..... now.

If you really want to have fun, you could break it down to the actual voting districts which contain those cities/teams vs all of the other districts that don't. Gee, I wonder how those numbers would shake out?

From what I understand, Obama is using Shawn Kemp's kids as his base, since that guarantees him at least 11 states just off the bat ...
